Search Tips

To search for a FAQ you need to fill in one or more fields on the search form. The fields should be filled in as follows:
Search For:
Enter the topic or keywords on the topic you are searching for. For example if you wish to know "What day is our rubbish collection?" you could enter "rubbish day" OR "bin" OR "dustbin"
Search Type:
If you choose 'Any words' the search will return all FAQs that contain at least one of the words you entered. This type of search will always return more results so there is a better chance of your finding the answer you need.
If you choose 'All words' the search will return those FAQs that contain ALL the words you entered (in any order).
If you choose 'Exact Expression' the search will return those FAQs that contain the exact expression you searched for.
Search In:
'Question and Answer' your keywords are searched for in the FAQ question and answer. This search type will return the most results.
'Question' your keywords are searched for in the FAQ question only
'Answer' your keywords are searched for in the FAQ answer only.
Section:
Each FAQ is assigned to a section of the Council. If you know which section of the council your question relates to you can use this option instead of a keyword search or to you can use it to narrow down your search results.
Sort Order:
The search engine returns the results in order of what it thinks is the closest match to your keywords. By default your search results are ranked in this order, starting with the closest match. If you prefer you can order them alphabetically by question or alphabtically by answer or by the date they were last modified.

Once you have filled in the search form click on 'Search FAQs'. This will take you to your list of results.
If you don't find what you are looking for try modifying your search criteria. Think of alternative keywords and use the 'Any words' and 'Question & Answer' options.
